| I was recently walking my dog on the beach and i was walking in the direction of the bridge and could see the best part of 120-150 empty drink cans as well as broken vodka bottles and empty cigarette cartons. I realised that this is the only refuge from oredom in Loughshinny for young teens, drinking. There is s total lack of facilities for them. perhaps a youth club, pool hall, basketball court or something else along those lines would prevent our beach been used as a public house by under age drinkers. |

With regards the lack of facilities for young people and using the beach as an unlicened bar I was brought up in Loughshinny we didnt have any poolrooms youth club or basketball court and we didnt leave the beach in a mess because we werent giving money willy nilly so couldnt go out buying drink maybe its time the parents of these under age drinkers payed more attention to what there children are doing when thay are out late at night and also someone might try looking into where they are buying the drink as there are laws against selling drink to anyone under age stop the source stop the problem _________________ Hi I would like to hear from anyone from the loughshinny area who went to the national school between 1956 and 1962 or anyone out there who knows me I lived at 2 ballykea

Just wanted to drop a note in relation to the lack of facilites for teenagers in Loughshinny. As you say on the website if you are between 13-18 you can join the Sea Scouts and Speech and Drama classes, are you for real. what do the committee do in loughshinny besides clear pot plants and sweep the road for the tidy towns are yous going to wait until you are picking up syringes off the road before supplying facilities for kids. look outside your little box which is your committee and ask some of the real residents in loughshinny to give a hand out and i am certain they will, the village does not belong to just the people on the commitee.
this problem is just going to get worse because loughshinny is getting bigger and that means more kids growing up with a life of boredom. put your heads together and maybe advertise a meeting to get some ideas from the kids in loughshinny to see want they would like seen in their area. Hopefully my ideas and thoughts will be listened to.
Thanks. [/b] |
