Gas Pipeline

The North Sea gas interconnector pipeline comes ashore in the little bay 'The Roaring Well' just south of Drumanagh headland.  This was a huge engineering project undertaken in 1994 to bring the gas pipeline from the North Sea across Scotland and then under the Irish Sea to come ashore at Loughshinny. The pipes are buried under the seabed for three miles offshore.
